Girls Club Initiative: Building Safe Spaces and Leadership for Adolescent Girls

Adolescent girls in rural communities often face multiple challenges such as limited access to information, early marriage risks, school dropouts, lack of safe spaces, and low participation in decision-making processes. Addressing these issues requires more than awareness—it requires consistent engagement, trust-building, and structured support at the village level.

To respond to this need, Riddhi Siddhi Sanstha has initiated a Girls Club program in five villages of the Phaltan block, India. This initiative has been actively running for the past one year and has shown strong community participation and positive engagement among adolescent girls.

The Girls Club serves as a safe and supportive platform where girls can freely express themselves, learn about their rights, and build confidence. Regular sessions are conducted on important themes such as personal safety, health and hygiene, education, leadership development, and awareness about social issues like child marriage and trafficking.

Beyond awareness, the clubs also focus on life skills development, helping girls improve communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities. This gradually strengthens their confidence and encourages them to continue education and actively participate in their communities.

One of the most important outcomes of the Girls Club model is the creation of a peer-support system. Girls learn together, support each other, and develop the courage to speak up against harmful practices and risky situations.

At the community level, this initiative is slowly changing perceptions—families are becoming more supportive, girls are becoming more visible in community discussions, and the importance of education and safety for girls is being increasingly recognized.

The Girls Club initiative reflects Riddhi Siddhi Sanstha’s broader vision of empowering adolescent girls not just as beneficiaries, but as future leaders of their communities.

A small safe space today is shaping confident, aware, and empowered young women for tomorrow.
